Domaine de la Chapelle Wines
Domaine de la Chapelle is located in Dorlisheim, 25 kilometers west of Strasbourg, on the edge of the Alsace wine route. Since the 18th century, the Jost family has cultivated vines and practiced mixed farming here. The first wines were vinified at that time, but it was in 1930 that Thibault Jost received the first awards for his productions. He then passed on his expertise to his son Victor, who marketed the estate's first bottles in the 1970s. Today, the estate is managed by several generations, including the founder's grandson, thus continuing an unbroken family tradition for nearly three centuries.
The vineyard stretches over hills facing south and southwest above Dorlisheim. The soils, mainly clay-limestone, include two emblematic lieux-dits: Husaren and Kalkgrube. With 9 hectares of organically certified vines, the estate produces the seven Alsace grape varieties, terroir wines, exceptional cuvées, and a Crémant. The estate obtained the High Environmental Value (HVE) certification in 2021, and the 2022 vintage is also certified organic.
For individuals, it is possible to join a guided vineyard tour followed by a free tasting at the cellar. Groups, limited to 25 people, must book their visit in advance. If absent during opening hours, it is advised to contact the estate by phone; the number is displayed on the door.
