EDF - Hydroelectric Power Plant

Commissioned in 1963, the Rhinau hydroelectric facility shares very similar technical features with the Marckolsheim plant, notably four turbine units each with a capacity of 150 MW. This installation is part of a larger system that also includes double-lock locks and a dam, forming a comprehensive water management system for the Rhine. For visitors, a panoramic walkway is set up on the left side of the plant, providing access to a prime viewpoint overlooking the machine hall, which is open to the public free of charge. Visits are possible Monday to Friday, with hours varying by season: from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. from May to September, and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. from October to April. Weekends are not included in these opening times.
