Epok'Tour
Epok'Tour organizes immersive guided tours led by a certified guide who portrays a character in period costume to transport you into the heart of history. Through three captivating experiences, you will rediscover the heritage, culture, and historical anecdotes that shaped Strasbourg during a true journey through time.
The first tour immerses you in the Renaissance, guided by Marie Schmidt, born around 1580. A bourgeois woman and wife of a master goldsmith aspiring to enter politics, she introduces you to Strasbourg in 1609. You explore market squares, shops, and artisan workshops—wine merchants, tailors, cobblers, and printers—while discovering daily life of the era. You also admire the architectural diversity and the economic and cultural wealth of this free and reformed city of the Holy Roman Empire, a refuge for many Huguenots.
The second experience takes you to the Middle Ages, guided by Jeanne, a servant of the Notre-Dame Work in the 1440s. Daughter of a carpenter, she shares her fascination with the artisans working on the cathedral site. You enter a stonemasons' lodge and witness the bustle of an exceptional medieval construction site. You observe the ancient tools that shaped one of the most iconic monuments of the Middle Ages and admire the work of Jean Hultz, the master builder of the recently completed spire. Jeanne also leads you through old Strasbourg to explore the port, granaries, walls, and towers, symbols of the political power and prosperity of this free city of the Holy Roman Empire.
Finally, the third tour brings the French Revolution in Strasbourg to life, guided by Louise. You follow the key events that marked the city at the end of the 18th century: from the assault on the town hall to the creation of the "Marseillaise," including the end of princely palaces and the era of the guillotine. You walk the streets of this strategic Rhine city, accompanied by your guide in period costume, tracing the footsteps of revolutionary figures like Kellermann and Kléber.
The tours last between 1 hour 30 minutes and 1 hour 45 minutes, in small groups, and are suitable for adults as well as children over 6 or 8 years old depending on the route. They can also be privatized for groups.
