Erckartswiller
Perched in a valley crossed by the Mittelbach, Erckartswiller is a small Alsatian village whose origins date back to the 12th century.
However, its true growth only occurred from the 17th century onwards, when its entire economic activity was based on the exploitation of the surrounding forest and the presence of a wheat mill located at the bottom of the valley.
The commune's coat of arms, marked by a crescent accompanied by three stars on a red background, pays tribute to its feudal past. It is directly inspired by the arms of the Hohenlohe-Bartenstein family, who were co-lords of the place in 1691.
