Ergersheim

Ergersheim, nestled between Molsheim and Strasbourg, is a village rooted in viticultural and agricultural tradition, part of the Couronne d’Or vineyard. Crossed by the Compostela trail, it recently housed a community of Cistercian nuns. Its Baroque Saint Nicholas church, rebuilt in the 18th century, features a medieval bell tower and remarkable Baroque furnishings. The main façade displays a neo-Romanesque portal added in 1873.

Nearby, two chapels recall vanished villages: Altbronn and Rimlen. To the north, the Maria Altbronn chapel, built in 1397 in honor of the Virgin Queen, is the only intact remnant of the village of Altbronn. To the east, the Saint Michael chapel, dating from the 12th century and surrounded by vineyards, belonged to the hamlet of Rimlenheim, erased from maps in 1444.

The village is also marked by the Bruche canal, developed by Vauban. The old towpath, now transformed into a bike path, forms the Bruche Canal cycle route, linking Strasbourg through preserved landscapes.
