Ernolsheim-Bruche
Perched on a hillside, this Alsatian village overlooks the Bruche Plain, just 20 km west of Strasbourg and 8 km from the international airport.
Crossed by two waterways, the Bruche Canal and the Bruche River, it combines rural charm and history. The canal, dug by order of Vauban, once connected Wolxheim to Strasbourg to transport materials for building the Strasbourg Citadel. Today, a bike path along the old towpath invites cyclists to explore this scenic route. The Renaissance-style Urendorf Castle, built in 1554, stands as a private property, while the village's old center preserves beautiful traditional Alsatian houses. For swimming enthusiasts, the Le Triangle pool near the train station is easily accessible thanks to numerous surrounding bike paths.
