Etappenstall - museum and exhibitions
The Etappenstall is the cultural and discovery center of the town of Erstein. Each season is marked by a new theme, presented through temporary exhibitions that highlight local heritage, explore artistic disciplines, or address social issues using interactive displays. The venue also offers artistic workshops and guided tours, providing the public with an accessible cultural immersion rooted in everyday life.
Its architecture, combining a renovated historic building with a contemporary structure, embodies the dialogue between past and present. Spread over two levels, the Etappenstall covers 250 m² of open and bright spaces.
The Archaeological Space, integrated into the venue, houses a small permanent area dedicated to showcasing archaeological discoveries made in Erstein. Notably, it features a remarkably well-preserved Bronze Age well, dating back 4,000 years (excavated in 2004), as well as various artifacts from the Merovingian necropolis, one of the largest in Europe, uncovered in 1999.
