Fernand - Anna Estate

The Fernand-Anna mining estate, located on the border of the communes of Wittenheim and Kingersheim, was built between 1908 and 1930 following a pavilion-style model.

Its development began under German administration before being taken over after 1918 by the French nationalized company Mines domaniales de potasse d’Alsace.

Upon completion, the site had 585 homes divided into 22 distinct types: 13 models for workers, 4 for employees, and 5 for engineers.

The construction of these homes was accompanied by the establishment of communal facilities, including a school inaugurated in 1928, a medical-social center opened in 1930, a chapel built in 1937, and a now-disappeared performance hall.

A single men's residence, destroyed in 1920, originally completed these amenities.
