Fishing at Perches Lake
Perched at 1000 meters altitude, this mountain lake can only be reached on foot, following a hike suitable for hiking boots. Classified as a first-category fishing area, it is subject to fishing laws that strictly regulate the allowed catches: four salmonids and two carp per angler, with the obligation to release carp weighing over three kilograms. The species present include brown trout, lake trout, Arctic char, brook trout, and lake whitefish.
Fishing is allowed with a maximum of two rods, and a permit is mandatory, available for daily, weekly, or annual periods. Fishing permits can be purchased online at www.cartedepeche.fr or directly at the Masevaux-Niederbruck Tourist Office, the Riesenwald farm-inn in Rimbach, or the Neuweiher Inn in Oberbruck. Access is exclusively on foot from the village of Rimbach-près-Masevaux, either via the Riesenwald farm-inn or through the Neuweiher lakes.
Camping is strictly prohibited.
