Fishing on the Fecht River
The Fecht stands out as the most preserved river in the department, offering waters of exceptional quality.
Its varied habitats support a diverse fauna and flora, among which the wild brown trout holds a central place. This emblematic species thrives in the fast-flowing waters of the Munster valley, attracting anglers seeking authenticity and sport.
Several fishing techniques are practiced here: fly fishing, the preferred method for precision enthusiasts; toc fishing, which relies on discretion and finesse; and artificial lures to add variety. Two dedicated stretches, labeled "No-kill" and reserved for fly fishing, promise memorable experiences at Wihr-au-Val and Metzeral, where nature and tranquility combine for total immersion.
