Former Trappistine Convent
The former Notre-Dame d'Altbronn Abbey is located in the picturesque village of Ergersheim, on the left bank of the Bruche Canal, about twenty kilometers from Strasbourg. Its history begins in 1826 when the Simonis family built a residence called the "castle," a manor house situated in the park behind the main building.
In 1895, the property was transferred to the Cistercian nuns of Oelenberg, who added a church and converted it into a convent building.
It then became the Notre-Dame d'Altbronn Abbey, hosting Trappistine nuns until their departure in 2009.
Since that date, the main building has housed the town hall of Ergersheim.
