Former Wattwiller Water Bottling Plant
Since Roman times, and later under the influence of the prince-abbots of Murbach, this thermal site gained a reputation that has lasted through the centuries.
The management of the baths was successively handled by the town of Wattwiller from 1522 to 1712, then by Murbach for 27 years before a responsibility exchange.
Various owners followed until February 1866, when a company was formed to operate the site.
On August 29, 1865, the State had already recognized the public interest of the springs, and in 1870, the purchase of the complex by its manager marked the beginning of a successful period.
After a two-year closure following the manager's death, the establishment reopened in 1896 and reached its peak until 1914.
After World War I, a new building housed a bottling plant producing still and sparkling waters until 1975. Today, the François Schneider Foundation has transformed this historic site into a center dedicated to contemporary art.
