FRAC Alsace Garden

For twenty years, the Regional Contemporary Art Fund – FRAC Alsace has had a large garden available to artists for long-term projects. Following Bertrand Lavier, Michel Aubry, Jean-Luc Brisson, and Nicolas Boulard, Swiss artists Gerda Steiner and Jörg Lenzlinger were invited to design a new project titled Schatz & Jardin, planned from 2021 to 2031.

This project transforms the garden into a landscape of mounds and water points, dotted with trees and various plants. It thus becomes a haven of biodiversity, offering refuge to plants, insects, and animals.

For visitors, it is also a place of relaxation and discovery, where one can observe, learn, or simply rest.

Facilities invite pause: seats scattered throughout the space, a shelter to protect from bad weather, and a mysterious cave conducive to confidences. The little ones can explore a tunnel leading to a dreamlike world. The garden also hosts visits, workshops for children and all audiences, as well as free events by reservation at servicedespublics@frac-alsace.org.
