French Army Memorial Monument
This monument, built in 1956, is a central pillar made of gray sandstone surrounded by four sculpted relief slabs.
These painted bas-reliefs pay tribute to the four French armies that fought on this land on August 6, 1870: the line infantry, the Turcos and Zouaves, the artillery, and the cuirassiers.
At the top of the structure, there is a crescent topped by two Latin crosses and a Star of David.
This monument replaces a previous one dedicated to the cuirassiers, destroyed in 1941 by German forces during World War II.
