Fritz Stephan Holiday Center

Located in a small mid-mountain village a few kilometers from the Champ du Feu resort, this self-catering group accommodation is managed by the Fritz Stephan Popular Education Association. The house, open year-round, spans four levels and offers spaces suited for group stays. On the garden level, there is a large equipped kitchen and a laundry room (washing machine and dryer available on request). The ground floor features a large adaptable room connected to the kitchen by a dumbwaiter, as well as a lounge, a pantry, a cloakroom with sinks, two toilets, and a heated enclosed terrace. The first floor has five bedrooms accommodating two to five people, two toilets, three individual showers, and a heated enclosed terrace. Finally, the second floor offers six bedrooms for two to four people, two toilets, two showers, and a bathroom with a bathtub and shower.

Founded in 1964 by the Protestant parish of St Paul Koenigshoffen, the Fritz Stephan House was built at the end of the 19th century by a wealthy South American before being acquired by the parish. In 1965, it hosted its first youth stay in Walderbach, followed in 1972 by the first stay for seniors. For fifty years, it has welcomed groups of young people and adults, notably from Germany, offering a peaceful setting and preserved landscapes for stays immersed in nature. Nearly 50,000 people have stayed here, enjoying the friendly atmosphere and values of sharing.

A team of volunteers, supported by members, donors, Protestant churches, and local authorities, actively works on renovating and improving accommodation and safety conditions. Today, motivated retirees continue this work diligently, ensuring the house is ever more welcoming and compliant with standards.
