Froeschwiller

Frœschwiller, an Alsatian village, owes part of its history to the Durckheim family who built a castle near the local church.

This castle, which has had several owners over time, is now listed as a historic monument.

The village also embodies the strategic importance of the region, having been the site of many battles, including the one on August 6, 1870. This confrontation between French and Prussian troops sealed the fate of Alsace, which was under German rule until 1918.

Just a short distance from Frœschwiller, the hamlet of Elsasshausen is notable for numerous remains of Gallo-Roman foundations, reflecting its ancient past.
