Gangloff Building

Constructed between 1905 and 1906 for Henri Gangloff, this site was designed by architect Louis Schwartz.

Its facade is distinguished by a sculpted allegory originally reflecting its role as an art gallery, bookstore, and antique shop.

This work is attributed to the famous sculptor Bartholdi, a native of Colmar and creator of the Statue of Liberty.

In 1920, the building changed purpose when acquired by the Schlumpf brothers, industrialists from Mulhouse known for their car collection. It was then converted into a hotel, continuing its history while adapting to new functions.
