German Military Cemetery 1939/1945 - Destinies of War Exhibition
The small spa town of Niederbronn-les-Bains was largely spared from fighting during World War II. However, clashes did occur there towards the end of the conflict.
In 1961, the Volksbund's "exhumation" service began transferring bodies to this town. The resulting military cemetery was inaugurated in 1966.
In May 2009, the Albert Schweitzer Center opened the permanent exhibition titled "Destinies of War." It highlights twelve individual stories among the 15,809 victims commemorated on site.
