German Military Cemetery 39/45

Perched on the Grasberg hill, this German military cemetery honors the memory of 5,308 soldiers who fell during the Second World War.

Their graves, once scattered across more than 225 municipalities in the Haut-Rhin, now rest together here.

The site, cleared starting in May 1970, required five years of work before its inauguration in 1975.

This quiet place of remembrance stands as a testament to the duty of memory and reconciliation between peoples.
