Grendelbruch

Grendelbruch is a mid-mountain forest commune nestled in a green valley, surrounded by dense forest. The village has an elevation difference of 500 meters between its center and the Hohbühl, its highest point at 1031 meters.

Historically, the commune's wealth was based on its forest domain, a logging tradition still celebrated today. Every summer, events like the woodcraft parade in July, the Lumberjack Festival in August, and the Christmas market in the Land of Lumberjacks keep this local culture alive.

The Hohbühl, an iconic site, attracts kite and paragliding enthusiasts in summer, while hikers, horse riders, and cyclists enjoy the cool forest shade. Fly fishermen can pursue their passion in the Magel, where trout are still abundant.

In winter, the Hohbühl transforms into a ski area with cross-country ski trails connecting to Champ du Feu. The snowy landscapes also invite snowshoe walks and sledding for children.

On clear days, the site offers an exceptional view over the entire Alsace plain and the first foothills of the Black Forest.
