Griesbach-Le-Bastberg
Griesbach-le-Bastberg is a former village located in the Bas-Rhin department in Alsace.
Since March 1, 1973, it has been incorporated as an associated commune of Bouxwiller, thus sharing its administrative fate.
The village's name originates from a precise geographical description: it refers to a "stony or sandy stream."
This toponym is composed of two German terms, *Griess* meaning gravel, and *Bach* meaning stream.
To avoid confusion with other Alsatian localities with similar names, such as Griesbach or Griesbach-au-Val, the name of the nearby hill, the Bastberg, was added to the village's name.
