Gros Chêne Sondersdorf

Also known as the Gros Chêne or Napoleon Oak, this majestic tree is a remarkable specimen estimated to be between 400 and 500 years old.

Already recognized as an exceptional tree by foresters in 1912, it has endured through the centuries despite the challenges of time. Struck by lightning twice in 1988, then damaged by the 1999 storm and the 2003 drought, it required careful care to preserve its survival.

Once reaching a height of 25 meters, it now measures only 12 meters, bearing witness to its resilience and history.
