Hahnenbrunnen Farm-Inn
Perched in the heart of the High Vosges, this place offers an exceptional panorama of the surrounding peaks. The farm, rich in history, continues an authentic marcaire tradition, both in its hospitality and its cuisine.
At Saint-Jean, the Haute-Thur valley lights up at its feet, creating a magical atmosphere.
Access by car is from Munster via the D417, then the D10 towards Metzeral. After Sondernach, continue to the Route des Crêtes, turn right at the crossroads towards the Schlucht Pass, until the sign indicating the farm. On foot, it is possible to reach the site from Kruth (2.5 hours walk) or Mittlach (also 2.5 hours).
Several hikes start from this location: to Markstein (45 minutes), Schafert (1 hour), Schepfenried (1.5 hours), Hohneck (3.5 hours), or the Grand Ballon or Schlucht Pass (half a day).
The farm offers, on order, marcaire meals, pies, bacon omelets, homemade tarts, as well as cheeses, bacon, and cured ham. The inn can accommodate up to 70 guests in two rooms.
In summer, visitors can pick berries or take mountain bike trails. Farm products include Munster cheese, Bargkas, fresh cheese, butter, marbled Chaumes cheese, and Alsace Tomme.
