Hanau-Lichtenberg Hotel, current City Hall

In the 18th century, Rue Brûlée established itself as a prestigious location where nobles and patricians built residences to enjoy an unobstructed view of the tournaments held at Place du Marché-aux-Chevaux, now known as Place Broglie. Among these buildings, the townhouse commissioned by Régnier III de Hanau-Lichtenberg stands out for its Regency-style architecture. Designed following the model of Parisian townhouses, it is organized around a central horseshoe-shaped courtyard, with a main building flanked by two wings. Confiscated during the Revolution, the building was later assigned to the City Hall, which moved in in 1806.
