Heckmann Pierette Farm
Located in Duppigheim, in the heart of the Bruche plain, halfway between Strasbourg and Molsheim, this family farm has been growing asparagus, strawberries, rhubarb, potatoes, and cereals using organic farming methods for ten years.
Managed by the same family for four generations, the farm long produced wheat, corn, and tobacco on about thirty hectares, while raising around fifteen dairy cows until the early 1990s.
Tobacco was abandoned in 1988 in favor of asparagus, while dairy farming was gradually phased out around the same time.
The farm then focused on cereals, with a small area dedicated to asparagus and strawberries, until 2008, when it chose to convert to organic farming.
Since its certification in 2010, it has significantly expanded its asparagus and strawberry crops, increasing their areas tenfold compared to the conventional farming period. It also produces rhubarb, potatoes, and onions, while maintaining a large portion of its land under organic cereals.
