Hector

The work *Hector*, affectionately nicknamed *the bulldog*, is a creation by the Mulhouse artist Renato Montanaro, of Italian origin.

Installed in 2010 at the Nouveau Bassin, this monumental bronze sculpture weighs over a ton.

Made by the Strassacker Foundry and patinated, it represents an English bulldog, a figure the artist has been exploring in various forms since 2004.

Commissioned by the City for the Nouveau Bassin, *Hector* is the fourth monumental version of this work.

Montanaro revisits an image he has already used, adapting it specifically to its new exhibition environment.

Thus, the sculpture naturally finds its place in this natural setting, interacting with the dogs of passersby and walkers who frequent the alley.
