Heiteren
Originally, a castle stood on the Roman Rhine road before being replaced by a château in 768. In 1194, colonization settled there and Heiteren became, until the Revolution, one of the eight bailiwick capitals of the Ribeaupierre. In the 19th and 20th centuries, the village experienced rural exodus, which deeply marked its history.
Among its notable monuments are the Maison Maître Pabst, built in the 19th century for the Méquillet family, as well as the Chapel of the Fourteen Holy Helpers, erected in 1830. There is also the Old Flour Mill, Saint James Church, the Thierhust Pilgrimage, and a replica of the Lourdes Grotto. Finally, the village honors the memory of Royal Air Force airmen who fell in 1945.
