HERTZOG Sylvain EARL

Located just 5 km from Colmar, the wine capital of Alsace, this independent winery, named Winemaker of the Year 2017 by the Guide Hachette des Vins, spans about 8 hectares of family vineyards cultivated with sustainable practices for three generations.

Near the villages of Eguisheim, voted France's favorite in 2013, and Kaysersberg, crowned in 2017, this terroir benefits from clay-marl-limestone soil and a unique microclimate, especially at the "Bildstoecklé" site, giving its wines remarkable character.

The vineyards, naturally grassed and alternately planted to optimize sun exposure, are carefully hand-harvested. The wines are produced and aged traditionally in the cellar, with particular attention to quality comparable to grand crus. The range offers dry wines as well as rounder cuvées suited to all tastes, while some wines, slightly more tannic or oaked, are aged in oak barrels in the famous Hospices de Strasbourg cellar, home to the world's oldest wine (1472).

Free visits and tastings are offered by appointment to discover these gastronomic wines, noted for their fruitiness and balance.
