Hinsbourg

Perched in the heart of a sandstone plateau surrounded by deep valleys with more than a hundred meters of elevation difference, Hinsbourg perfectly embodies the clearing efforts led by the counts of La Petite Pierre in 1617. This initiative was part of a broader policy to repopulate the area, which was then marked by underutilized lands. In the early 18th century, the arrival of Reformed settlers from Switzerland played a key role in the development of the commune. Their influence is still reflected today in Hinsbourg's coat of arms, where small Swiss crosses accompany the county's arms, bearing witness to this shared history.
