Hirtzbach

Hirtzbach, a typically Sundgau village, has just been awarded the Prize from the Ministry of Agriculture and the Interprofessional Office for Fruits, Vegetables, and Horticulture. It is also distinguished by its four flowers, awarded nationally and across Europe for the quality of its floral displays, making it a pleasant and green living environment.

Following the Hirschbach stream, you discover charming half-timbered houses and an avenue of century-old lime trees. Charles de Reinach Park offers a pleasant walk where you can admire the last icehouse of Sundgau, lush vegetation, and Reinach Castle.

The Sainte-Afre chapel and the parish church house artistic and architectural treasures, such as a painting by Gutzwiller, a fresco by Limido in the church, and a 15th-century pietà in the chapel.

Every year, on the first weekend of August, Hirtzbach comes alive during the Nature Festival, a large street festival attracting about 10,000 visitors. The program includes exhibitions, craft stalls, entertainment, folk music, and a fireworks display to close the festivities.
