Historical Museum
Built between 1900 and 1905 in a neo-Renaissance style, the Haguenau Historical Museum houses rich and varied collections that illustrate the history of the city and its surrounding region. Visitors discover artifacts dating from prehistory to the modern era, with particular focus on the Bronze and Iron Ages. These periods are represented by a remarkable archaeological collection highlighting a culture that flourished in the Haguenau forest. The Gallo-Roman period is also well documented, notably through exceptional pieces such as a Roman legionary helmet. Several rooms are dedicated to local history, from the city's founding in the 12th century. The museum also offers a fine collection of Hannong faience, as well as Art Nouveau and Art Deco glassware.
