Historical Museum

The Strasbourg Historical Museum is housed in the Grandes Boucheries, a historic building constructed in 1588. It offers a captivating journey through the city's evolution, from the Middle Ages to the birth of European institutions. The museum features a selection of objects and a relief map of Strasbourg dating from 1727 to illustrate this history in three main periods: first, the free city of the Holy Roman Empire from 1262 to 1681; then the period of the royal and revolutionary free city from 1681 to 1800; before covering the 19th and 20th centuries, marked by Strasbourg's transformation into a regional metropolis and European capital.

A free audio guide is available to deepen the visit, offered in French, German, and English. The museum also provides games and activities specially designed for young audiences, making the discovery of history accessible and fun for all.
