Hohengoeft Chapel and Stations of the Cross
Perched on the Goeftberg plateau, the village of Hohengœft overlooks the Saint Wendelin chapel, built in 1666 as a sign of gratitude to God for protecting the locality from the plague. A cross dated the same year is integrated into the front gable of the nave. The building, initially dedicated to the Holy Cross, gained importance after a Saint Wendelin pilgrimage during the Revolution. It is accompanied by a Stations of the Cross created in 1772, still present today. This place of devotion, still frequented in the 20th century, hosts an annual pilgrimage service on Pentecost Monday. In June, the meadows of Goeftberg are adorned with many orchids, offering a bucolic and colorful landscape.
