Hohlandsbourg Castle

Perched at 620 meters above sea level, the Château du Hohlandsbourg overlooks the region with a 360° view of the Black Forest, the Alsace plain, and the Vosges mountains. Built under the initiative of the Habsburgs between the 13th and 17th centuries, it perfectly illustrates Alsatian military architecture up to the Thirty Years' War, which left it in ruins before its later restoration.

Surrounded by tall granite walls, the castle is organized around a large central courtyard, dominated to the north by the upper castle. A playful and interactive scenographic trail is offered, allowing visitors to discover the site's history, its layout, and its role from the Bronze Age to the contemporary era.

Today, Hohlandsbourg is a place of leisure and discovery for families. Visitors can explore the castle on self-guided or guided tours, participate in exhibitions, workshops, or historical reenactments. Birthday parties and medieval banquets are also organized here. Private spaces and a shop are available on site.
