Hohwald Waterfall
Perched at 700 meters above sea level, the Hohwald waterfall site is a must-visit getaway for nature lovers. Its charm works year-round, offering a constantly renewed spectacle. In spring and summer, lush vegetation surrounds the area with a refreshing coolness, even on the hottest days. The more adventurous dip their feet in the lively river waters, while walkers enjoy the shaded trails. Autumn transforms the landscape into a palette of warm colors, where the crunch of leaves underfoot accompanies the view of golden hues. Winter finally wraps the waterfall in a soft silence under a blanket of snow, disturbed only by the roar of the water that continues to flow strongly. Accessible in all seasons, the site simply requires appropriate clothing for the weather. Visitors have two options: a 1.5-hour, 6-kilometer hike through forest and village, or a more direct access from the parking lot at the edge of Hohwald via an 800-meter marked trail. Once there, picnic tables at the foot of the waterfall invite a tasty break, while the village’s farm inns offer a delicious stop to extend the visit.
