Holtzwihr
This village traces its origins back to the 8th century when the Franks established it under the name Lilenselida. During the Middle Ages, its fertile and wet lands were managed by various orders and convents. Its history was marked by two major destructions: first during the Thirty Years' War, then in 1945 during the French offensive that liberated Colmar. It was only after these trials that the village experienced a period of prosperity, thanks to the mechanized cultivation of cabbage used for making sauerkraut.
