Hospital Center

At the southern end of Rouffach stands the hospital center, built in 1904 and inaugurated in 1908.

From the beginning, the increasing influx of patients required successive expansions.

During World War I, most patients were evacuated, leaving only 200 people to maintain general services.

In October 1918, Emperor Wilhelm II was received at the asylum's Casino.

In December 1918, the young doctor Frantz Adam was provisionally appointed.

Despite a decrease to 294 patients by the end of 1919, demand for beds remained high, leading to several expansions in the 1920s and 1930s.

By 1939, the facility housed 1,553 patients. World War II saw the establishment of a school.
