House of Witches
Between 1582 and 1683, Bergheim was the scene of a series of witch trials that still mark the history of Alsace.
These often little-known events left a tragic toll: 43 women lost their lives, mostly burned alive after swift and summary trials. Today, the Maison des Sorcières offers an immersion into this dark period through images, engravings, video films, archives, and short texts, available in French and German.
The aim is to encourage reflection on the past to better understand the mechanisms of exclusion and intolerance that persist in our contemporary society.
