Ill Plain
At the end of the 1950s, regulation works on the Ill river were undertaken. These allowed for the development of the Illberg area and the creation of a Priority Urban Development Zone, structured into three distinct spaces.
The residential area, called the Coteaux, the university zone, and the sports plain form open places where buildings blend harmoniously into a preserved natural setting. The project designers aimed to bring the city closer to the countryside by offering green spaces and calming landscapes.
In the sports plain, a promenade was created along the Ill, adorned with willows, poplars, maples, and alders, inviting relaxation and walks.
