Ingwiller
Ingwiller, a commune with 4,233 inhabitants as of January 1, 2014, stretches halfway between Strasbourg and Sarreguemines, where the Moder River emerges from the last foothills of the Vosges. This privileged location, at the foot of the Northern Vosges and on the edge of a fertile agricultural plain, shaped its history and commercial vocation from the start. The importance of this crossroads likely explains why Ingwiller was elevated to city status on May 11, 1345, allowing it to organize markets and build ramparts. Until the end of the 19th century, the town retained a rural and artisanal character, marked by activities such as weaving, bleaching, and brewing.
