Innenheim
Innenheim is a charming Alsatian village located about twenty kilometers west of Strasbourg and just eight kilometers from Strasbourg-Entzheim Airport. Thanks to a controlled urban development policy, it has preserved the authenticity and spirit of a traditional village, avoiding becoming a mere commuter town. Today, it has 1,123 inhabitants and lies in the heart of a landscape marked by orchards and diverse market gardening crops: apples, lettuce, eggplants, peppers, and many other local products still thrive here.
The history of Innenheim dates back to the year 731, when it was mentioned under the name Unnenheim. Originally part of the Holy Roman Empire, the village suffered heavily from the Armagnac invasions before being almost entirely destroyed in 1674 during the conflicts between Louis XIV and the Empire. After the upheavals of the French Revolution, it gradually rebuilt throughout the 18th century, slowly regaining its vitality and identity.
