Issenheim

Nestled at the foot of the Vosges foothills, the village of Issenheim is just two kilometers from the vineyards and the famous Alsace Wine Route. Its gentle and accessible terrain makes it an ideal spot for a peaceful stop, while offering easy access to must-see sites nearby, such as Guebwiller, Soultz, and the Florival region.

Issenheim owes much of its fame to the Antonine convent, which once housed the famous Issenheim Altarpiece painted by Matthias Grünewald. Considered a masterpiece of medieval art, this altarpiece is now displayed at the Unterlinden Museum in Colmar, attracting visitors from around the world.

For those interested in spirituality, the convent of the Sisters of Divine Providence offers a serene visit. Additionally, the Gast spinning mill, a jewel of the Lauch Valley's industrial heritage, reflects the local economic history and is worth a visit.

Finally, St. Andrew's Church houses a 19th-century Callinet organ, a remarkable instrument that delights music lovers during concerts and tours.
