Jean Wagner Estate

The Jean Wagner estate is named after the mayor of Mulhouse from 1953 to 1956.

It was built between 1956 and 1958 by the HLM to meet the high housing demand following the post-war population boom. The complex included 635 housing units spread over 13 blocks, interspersed with open spaces and some facilities.

The stairwells, carefully designed, reflected the architecture of the time.

Since 2005, the neighborhood has been undergoing demolition and reconstruction. The new housing incorporates High Environmental Quality standards.
