Joffre-Lefebvre Fort

The Joffre-Lefebvre fort, located in Strasbourg, is part of the Belt of Forts of Strasbourg, built in the 19th century to defend the city.

Named in honor of Generals Joseph Joffre and Louis Lefebvre, it reflects the military history of the region, especially during the German Empire period and World War I.

Constructed after the annexation of Alsace-Moselle, it was designed to strengthen Strasbourg's protection against potential attacks, featuring reinforced concrete structures and heavy artillery.

Integrated into a strategic network of fortifications, it played a key role during global tensions and conflicts before becoming a symbol of local military architecture. Today, although less known to the general public, it remains a major historic site, often explored by history and military architecture enthusiasts.

Its interior is accessible only during guided tours, which allow visitors to appreciate the fort's ingenious design and its importance in the city's defense.
