Jules Tower
The Climont panoramic tower, also known as the Jules Tower, was built in 1897 by the Strasbourg section of the Club Vosgien. Its construction was made possible thanks to the donation of the land by Mr. Gérardin, owner of the Climont summit. In a neo-medieval style and square plan, the tower is distinguished by a corbel at its top and an oriel window on the south side. Standing 17 meters tall, it was inaugurated in October 1897 in the presence of the authorities of the Deutsches Reich. To reach the top, one must climb 78 steps, and a commemorative plaque honoring Julius Euting, a renowned orientalist and founding president of the Club Vosgien, is affixed at the entrance. The construction cost amounted to 4,000 marks of the time.
