Kagenfels Castle
Around 1262, Albrecht Kagen built this castle, which would become a major witness to medieval history. Struck by four successive destructions in the 14th and 15th centuries, it rose from its ashes around 1430. The Uttenheim family then gave it new prominence between 1507 and the early 16th century by expanding and raising its structures. Abandoned from the end of the 16th century, the site fell into oblivion until archaeological excavations and restoration work began in 2002. These efforts have revealed a castle of remarkable richness and scale, offering today a fascinating glimpse into its glorious past.
