Kaysersberg
Perched on the Alsace Wine Route, just 10 kilometers from Colmar, Kaysersberg is a medieval town inviting discovery.
Stroll through its streets and admire its historic gems: the Church of the Holy Cross, notable for its carved wooden altarpiece, the fortified bridge spanning the Weiss River, medieval ramparts and towers, as well as richly decorated half-timbered houses.
Don't miss the birthplace of Albert Schweitzer, native of Kaysersberg and Nobel Peace Prize laureate in 1952, now transformed into the Schweitzer Center.
The town also offers walking and cycling routes through vineyards and mountains, with maps available at the tourist office.
Food lovers can enjoy local products from artisans and merchants or discover wines from independent winemakers, including the Grand Cru Schlossberg.
Kaysersberg comes alive year-round with seasonal markets, festivals, children's activities, and night markets, including its famous authentic Christmas market.
For a breathtaking view of the town, take the path leading to the castle ruins overlooking the city. Its keep offers an exceptional panorama of the Alsatian landscapes.
Kaysersberg was voted France's favorite village in 2017, honoring its heritage richness and timeless charm.
