Kléber School
Designed to accommodate the schoolchildren of the Fonderie district, this school building constructed in 1909 stands out for its refined aesthetics and design tailored to the needs of the time. It met two major requirements: pedagogy, with rooms specially arranged for teaching, and hygiene, which was a central health concern, particularly in the fight against tuberculosis.
From its inauguration, it featured modern equipment for the era: baths, showers, and toilets on every floor, central heating, electric lighting, as well as a dining hall, a drawing room, and a music room. The floors, covered with linoleum, were a notable innovation. The building, equipped with a clock tower, displayed monumentality while adding a dynamic touch to its architecture.
This building is not open to the public.
