Koch Calvary
This cross, erected in 1698 by Jacob Koch, the priest of Wattwiller since his arrival in Alsace in 1663, carries a special symbolism.
Beneath the Christ monogram, one can see the priest's humorous coat of arms, inspired by his name.
In Alsatian, "Kochhàffa" literally means "pot," and he adds two spoons, creating a visual pun with his surname. This detail reflects the local spirit and Alsatian humor, while marking the religious and cultural history of the region.
