Kupferschmitt Farm of Salm
Built in 1791 from pink sandstone, this former farm hosted several generations of Mennonites, including the family of Nicolas Augsburger.
However, it is named after Jacob Kupferschmitt, a prominent figure in this community.
In 1793, he distinguished himself by obtaining an exemption from armed service for his fellow believers from the revolutionary authorities, an early act of conscientious objection. Today, the farm can only be viewed from the outside as it remains private property.
